Technical and Socio-Economic Aspects of Hybrid Renewable Energy Sources: A Step-by-Step Approach

چکیده

In this paper a step-by-step approach is presented for the adoption of technologies designed to exploit hybrid renewable (solar, wind, biomass and small hydro) energy Systems at the rural level. It is centered around the establishment of rural energy centers to improve the basic living environment. In due course, the role of these centers is to be expanded to encompass agricultural, domestic, transport and small-scale industrial activities. The technical, economic and socioeconomic aspects of the step-by-step introduction of renewable energy systems in rural areas in developing countries are discussed. The acute energy needs and the unavailability of commercial fuels in the rural areas offer a rewarding opportunity for the utilization of locally available renewable energy sources. Small-scale decentralized hybrid system concepts for harnessing renewable energy sources are discussed.
